Led by Dr. Hélène Deacon, the Language and Literacy Lab examines how children achieve the reading skills they need to fully participate in society. Our research is conducted with amazing partner schools and collaborators around the world.

Why is reading research important?

In the Information Age, we are constantly bombarded by rich written texts, making reading an essential skill. Access to this information, and full participation in society, begins with the foundational ability to read. Our research focuses on the skills that children and adults need to achieve full literacy.
